On June 18, the Center for Teahcing and Learning & IT Serivce at Korea University Sejong Campus held a seminar titled ‘Mutually Beneficial Cooperation in Learning and Sharing for the Promotion of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)’ in Culture and Sports Building.

In the first part of the seminar, instructors who had conducted the innovative ‘SEMO Class Learning and Sharing Model’ at KU Sejong for the first semester of 2025 shared the outcomes of their courses. This semester, a total of 170 students participated in six courses, carrying out a variety of community-linked projects. Notable examples included a project addressing urban issues in Sejong City, a cultural heritage exhibition project for the 2025 Heritage Korea in Sejong City, a digital literacy education program for seniors at the Sejong City Literacy Education Center, a cultural diversity, coding, and AI-based creative writing project at Boram Elementary School, and a Korean cultural experience program for multicultural children at the Sejong Family Center.
The second part of the seminar focused on feedback from partner organizations such as the Sejong Human resources & Lifelong Education Development Foundation, Boram Elementary School, and the Sejong Family Center regarding the outcomes of these community-linked projects. Based on this feedback, participants explored ways for universities and local communities to collaborate and achieve mutual growth, aiming to further expand the practice of ESD through the SEMO Class.
On a related note, Korea University Sejong Campus continues to steadily expand its innovative SEMO Class Learning and Sharing Model, which emphasizes the importance of learning for building sustainable communities. By encouraging students to identify and contribute to various local issues, the program provides valuable educational experiences that promote the practice of sustainable development education.
