On June 30, Korea University Sejong Job Center visited Sejong JangYeongSil High School to deliver a career and employment special lecture for senior students. The lecture was designed to strengthen students’ practical career planning and job competency before entering society, based on a cooperative network with local organizations to enhance young people’s understanding of job roles and policy utilization.
This program was part of a regional cooperation project to boost youth employment in Sejong City, helping students preparing for employment to assess and develop the skills needed in real-world settings. Rather than simply delivering information, the lecture focused on providing practical and actionable strategies tailored to students’ majors and career directions.
Students from various majors, including IT, beauty and cosmetology, health and nursing, and culinary arts, participated in the lecture. Customized interview strategies and image-making training were offered according to students’ majors and areas of interest. The training covered practical job preparation skills, including tips on writing self-introductions, effective responses to job-specific interview questions, non-verbal communication that creates a positive impression, first impression management, and appropriate attire and demeanor during interviews.
A representative from the high school stated, “At a time when students are worried about their future careers and employment, this practical education tailored to their majors and career paths was very meaningful. It surely gave students the confidence to face interviews.”
In addition, a representative from Sejong Job Center stated, “Providing career and employment support that aligns with local youth’s needs is crucial. We will continue to offer on-site programs in cooperation with schools and institutions to foster practical human resources, revitalize local employment, and establish a sustainable career support system.”
